BOBBI MATTSON - Calgary Rath, NRL and Team Canada 2010
December 20, 2010

Picture
Name - Bobbi Mattson

My first teeny bopper years of ringette I played for PSA Ringette. And I have been playing for Calgary 'AA' (please don't make me remember allll the names of my teams haha) ever since I hit Tween. The one year that really stands out is my first year belle; I played for the Calgary AA Altius - we went undefeated the entire season (including nationals) and we even came close to beating the Cambridge Turbo's during an exhibition fun game in Ontario after a belle tournament. And for the past 3 seasons I have been playing for the Calgary Rath in the National Ringette League.

And I have only recently started coaching. Last year was my first official year of coaching. I helped coached the Calgary Junior AA Forte. I will also be helping coach one of the Calgary Junior AA teams this year as well.

Number - For most of my ringette life I've been #31 - but on TC I'm #30.

Years played ringette - 15 years

Current Ringette team/last team played for - Calgary Rath & Team Canada

Favorite part of being a Ringette Goalie - Being in the spotlight - making the big time saves and getting all the "oohs" and "ahs". I also really enjoy stoning fellow teammates or friends on other teams. Just for bragging rights after the game.

School or job description - Parts Canada - Motorcycle/ATV Shop Supervisor

Book you’re reading now - An Autobiography of an L.A Gang Member

Best Gift Received - Book - The 16th Round - Autobiography of Rubin Hurricane Carter - It's my favorite book of all time! I couldn't find it anywhere for years. It's a rare print book.

Favorite Holiday - Christmas

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor - Tiger and bubble gum

Favorite Junk Food - 5 cent candies and double stuffed oreo's.

Life Lesson - Focus on the process, not the result.

Favorite Movie - Transformers 1&2 & Mr. & Mrs. Smith. (you can't make me pick between the two.)

Nickname - Goalie nickname - The Flash

Trickiest Player to play against - Sala Kyhala (I think that's how you spell it). I think only because I know most the West players I play against. I know most of their tendencies or I guess you could say 'tricks.'

Pet Peeve - People who stare. It drives me nuts!!

Question: If you weren't a Goalie, what would you be? I probably wouldn't be in Ringette. I would probably pursue and continue playing Rugby. Or I would be a personal trainer. I love to kick people's butt's in the gym.

Favorite actor/actress - Movie actress - Angelina Jolie. Reality TV - Jillian Michaels - she is everything I would dream to be.

Favorite band or artist - Incubus. And I'm biased because it's my best friends band. But my other favorite band is God Made Me Funky.

Other sports you play - Rugby.

TV Show you can't miss - Modern Family and True Blood

Unique Characteristics - Extremely confident

Vacation Spot - Bermuda and Disneyworld are the best vacation spots!

Summer activity- Mountain Biking & Ultimate Frisbee

X-Rays (ever broken a bone) - I've never broke a bone. The most extreme injuries I've had are torn hamstring, and a minor knee injury from a car accident.

Achievements -
Nationals 7x - 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze
West NRL all-star of the month
Canada Winter Games 2007 - Silver medalist
National Team - Team Canada 2010
