Alissa is one of the Group Leaders at our 5-Count Ringette Goalie Camp in Beaumont this coming August. She brings a variety of experience and is our first feature goalie that plays in the University/College level of ringette.
Name - Alissa Liska
Number - #34
Years played Ringette - 14
Current Ringette team/last team played for – U of A Ringette Club
Favourite part of being a Ringette Goalie – Making a ridiculous save when the other team thinks they’ve scored and starts celebrating. I also enjoy discovering new ways my body can bend or twist while attempting to stop the ring…doing the splits for the first time and actually getting up afterwards was quite a surprise.
School or Job Description - I am finishing up a BSc in Nutrition and Food Science with a Physical Activity minor at the U of A. I plan on specializing in sports nutrition and also working as a personal trainer.
Book you’re reading right now – Bossypants – Tina Fey
Best gift received – Laser Eye Surgery and 20/20 vision
Favorite Holiday - Christmas and the NHL playoffs
Favorite Ice Cream flavor - Cotton Candy
Favorite Junk Food – Cheesecake
Life Lesson – Take the time to do something the best you can the first time so you don’t have to do the same thing again.
Favorite Movie – Bridesmaids
Nickname - “Moose” when I was younger and lacked coordination
Trickiest player to play against - Jen Hartley. She never stops skating, crashes the net HARD, and shoots the ring from anywhere
Pet Peeve – slackers, Debbie downers, and people being late
Question: If you weren’t a Ringette Goalie, what would you be? - A centre. One more year in between the pipes and I plan on venturing outside the crease =)
Favorite Actor/Actress – Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson
Favorite band or artist - Pink, Adele, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Colbie Cailat…pretty much anything that doesn’t make my ears bleed
Other sports you play – competitive ball hockey (I play centre but still think I’m a goalie), touch football, golf, rec hockey, pumping iron
TV show you can’t miss – Grey’s Anatomy & Modern Family
Unique characteristic – My eyes are two different colors and I’m slightly orange from eating too many carrots
Vacation spot – Vegas! Or anywhere with a beach
Summer activity - As many summer sports as possible, having time to bbq and cook extravagant feasts, checking out festivals, and any other activity that doesn’t involve studying
X-Rays (ever broken a bone) - Nope but I have pulled my gluteus maximus in a game
